I require help to develop and use effectively, quaternions for modeling of beam elements but also in extracting local element forces in a nonlinear finite element analysis. My axis system is different than many examples and I need a work-through to ensure everything is OK.
To extract local element forces from beam elements, rigid body movement needs to be extracted from solved global displacements and angles. Several corotational formulations are available online using new axis definitions and manipulations. I desire this to be done with quaternions. All results will need to pass appropriate unit tests.
Hello.
I couldn't bid earlier because i had problems with my status of preferred freelancer. Now the problem is solved and I can begin the work. I looked once more attached paper. Rotations is SO(3) group. I know different parametrization of SO(3) group. The parametrization proposed in attached paper is very close to vector parametrization. Common property of quaternion parametrization and vector parametrization is use of vector that define rotation axis and angle of rotation. Maybe quaternion parametrization is better to mechanics of solids.
We can start any day. I would like to have the first step of our work defined by you.
