Demonstrating a fundamental algorithim based on a previous paper.

This is a homework problem pertaining to computers in biomedical research that I need help with. This problem is based on a published paper entitled: [[Local alignments; Smith, F.F. and M.S. J.Mol.Biol. 147: pp. 195-197 (1981)]] Link to this paper can be found on the web in the form of a PDF file at the following URL: [login to view URL] The parameters that this program should follow are: 1) As necessary, create your own sample (short) data files to demonstrate operation of the software; or, use published sequence date retrieved from public databases. 2) The program should show the original data files as well as any calculated results. 3) Please comment liberally within the program as well as provide a brief synopsis of the paper cited to describe the strategy used by the authors(.txt file). 4) All that is needed is to demonstrate the fundamental algorithm in the simplest way possible, and not to duplicate the software developed by the original authors.
