Aim: Use VB to interpret old DOS based 4GL Files Description: We have an old legacy system written using the following Informix products: 1. Informix-Online 5.10 (Database Engine) 2. Informix-4GL RDS 4.20 (Rapid Development System) 3. Informix-4GL ID 4.20 (Interative Debugger) 4. Informix-SQL 4.20 We are trying to document it and require a VB program that can untangle the various descriptions of menus and screens and reports that are contained in the 4GL tool ( Informix-4GL RDS 4.20 ) The Input: The input will be the ASCII files that can be exported from the Informix database and the 4GL. Samples are included which demonstrate a database table, a menu, and input screen and a report. The required output: Output should be a readable text file that interprets the 4GL text files into a meaningful description of the fields, prompts, functions and other items or activity described in the 4GL. The text file would be (preferably) presented in XML format. The Programmer: The successful coder will need a strong working knowledge of the Informix database and the Informix-4GL RDS Attachments: Attached you will find some sample ASCII files from the Informix database and the 4GL.
