We're testing a vending machine and need to monitor the pressure switches (these are just simple switches, 4 of them). These triggers would simply be high/low inputs on the GPIO's. We'd like to use a raspberry pi to take the triggers (as they occur) and then send the info via SMS with the Pi's MAC ID. This will allow us to see if the machine has overpressured. We already have the 3G routers so just need the raspberry pi code to monitor the pressure switches and send SMS or email when they're triggered. If this project goes well, I have at least 3 other projects that will be much more challenging and with bigger budgets. This is a guaranteed project for the right applicant. ADDITIONAL NOTE Hi everyone, Some ore info that may help you in your quotes. We'll be using a proroute 3g router. it connects to the ethernet of the rasp' pi. Here's a link. We currently use temboo and send emails to gmail. happy to use that format again if it's easier for you guys. We may want to create log files of the data acquired by the sensors. this can be something we can convert to a graph in an excel spreadsheet. Hope this helps.

Hi, I have worked several projects using Raspberry pi and Arduino. You may check my completed projects on my profile page. i have worked similar project before. We can even implement to send the data to a web server. I have worked on a project where temp is monitored and data is sent to the webserver realtime. This project is similar to this, just need to send an email on change of event. If your final goal is to show move the data to the central server, then we can do the emailing from the server (that will be more scalable) and also you can check current status always rather just getting the message on change. Hi, I've done GPIO programming for an OLinuxino board, very similar to RPi, and have extensive experience with Linux, embedded systems, and network protocols. Probably the easiest and most flexible way to do what you want is with some Python scripting, although I could also build a C++ app. Using a cloud service has advantages for flexibility, but certainly it would be easy enough for the RPi to send email directly. I'm assuming you don't need to use the RS232 interface on your pressure sensors for this phase of the project. So my bid is to provide a Python app to periodically monitor 4 pressure switches connected to GPIO pins, and send an email if any indicate overpressure (or on any change of states?, perhaps with a limit on the number of emails per hour. Input values can be written to a local CSV file with timestamps, which you can retrieve for graphing. I will provide clean, efficient, well-commented code, and instructions on setup, configuration, and usage. Thanks for considering my bid.

Hi I will do this work as you wish by using Nodejs Which get sensor data and send it by email. Even now i am not sure about send sms via router. But if you connect 3g dongle directly to rpi I can send sms easy or email. Any way this work is in my career . I am ready and will finish it as you which.

We have very good experience of writing software for products like this. We have done a similar project in which RS485 data was retrieved and sent over Ethernet. That project extended further and instead of sending data, a server was implemented which responded to the queries for that RS485 data. These days we are writing applications and drivers for Raspbian as we have very good knowledge of embedded Linux.

Hello, I'm an experienced C/C++ developer and have implemented several commercial applications for the Raspberry Pi. These applications include an RFID driver and custom network interface, a high speed CNC vibration controller, and a industrial monitoring application using a number of sensor interfaces including GPIO, I2C, and serial (RS232 & RS485). In these applications, I've found that using an embedded SQLite for the data logging / sampling works very well. Text file logs can be easily generated from the .db file and the application can easily track pending data to be transmitted when working a potentially intermittent network connection. Hello there, I'm an embedded C/C++ engineer form the U.K> most of my my work experience (20 years of it) has been working on consumer electronics products and low-level software . Can I ask you- what version of R-Pi are you using? Also, have you got any preferences as to what kind of technology/library you want to use for sending SMS? Since a couple years I have been designing Pi based solutions on a daily base. This project is very simple. My approach will be slightly different though. Via a centralized web interface you'll be able to - setup email alerts per machine or machine group. - choose between direct alerts and/or daily digests - browse through unlimited alert history with graphics. The type(s) of graphics are open for discussion; this can be for example - Per machine on a certain timespan - All machines next to each other with descending trigger count - you say it. My solution doesn't require seperate settings on the boxes themselves. All machines will use the same installation image, all settings will be done remotely. Full step by step description of installation procedures will be delivered and I offer full time remote support. I have deployed thousands of Pi's and I know what can happen to them in a commercial environment.
