'Memories' is a story about a girl born into poverty in 1947. It exhibits the control families hold over their girls, not allowing them to escape poverty, through gender equality, immigrant and minority attitudes. We learn from her how to break the cycle in order to escape this life. She grows up in Brooklyn with a single mother and an absentee father. It holds the same mood as 'Angelaí Ashes' by Frank McCourt, only with the viewpoint of a girl growing up in poor inner city areas of New York instead.
The main character, whose name you are never given, tells the story through her memories. Throughout the story, she shares life lessons to the reader through memories. When she is five years old, living in a cold flat, she realizes, "I have to accept that I will have to work and do things by myself if I want to survive." That day, she decides, through tears, "I will have to accept what I am given, and be strong and depend on no one but myself if I want anything."
Please disregard my bid amount, I can do the work for much less.
