Select a publicly traded corporation that has a well-developed commercial web site, preferably one that sells goods or services (including news or information). Explore the site. Report what technologies firms are using, what business processes are involved, and how the web is changing the way business is conducted. Your report might include the following: 1. Describe the site and any restrictions to access (registration, fees, etc.). Create a "site map" if one is not provided by the company. Use an outline or a schematic to explain the organization of the site. 2. If possible, determine if the firm hosts their site internally, or if an independent ISP or other vendor hosts it. Look for acknowledgements of external web design or management. 3. Note the type of advertising, if any, such as banner ads on the site, and if the ads are "sensitive" to your interaction with the site (e.g., Amazon ads for dog books are displayed on Yahoo if you search for dogs). 4. Also look around for external promotion of the site. Note any ads you have seen for the site on other web sites, television, magazines, etc. 5. Survey the technology the company employs: multimedia, interactivity, electronic payment systems, etc. 6. Assess the security employed if possible (e.g., SSL) and look for security and privacy policy statements. 7. Obtain a copy of the company's annual report if possible or a copy of their Form 10K from [login to view URL] Read as much as you can about the company. Hunt for any references by the company to their web site. Document what they say about the site, and determine if they acknowledge that it is changing the way they do business. All businesses are unique. Add to the above list as necessary to create a picture of what you found. Post an executive summary of your findings in Discussions. Submit an 8-10 page (8-10 pages of double spaced content in addition to front and back matter) report
