I) In my office, translating Tamil into English and English into Tamil was almost a routine work for me as few natives were versed with both languages. ii) The official languages of the Court were the native languages of Sri Lanka while, the arguments and submissions made to the judges were invariably in English. Therefore, a command of the English language was always required. iii) The official communications addressed to the various departments and clients had to be both in the vernacular languages and English as there was a mixed population in Sri Lanka and different administrative areas where Tamil and English were both useful. All these factors have contributed to my skill expected by you for the employment applied for.
