We own a bespoke Siphonic Roof Drainage analytical design calculation program that calculates hydraulics in a given pipe system using the inflow (in litres per second or gallons per minute) into each roof drain and flowing through the pipe network to the discharge location. Currently, our program is a web based application which allows easy access/distribution to users but presents many limitations. We have a graphic input where users draw in the required pipe routing. This doubles up on work if the designer has already drawn the pipe system in Revit or cad. We are exploring the possibility of a Revit or AutoCad API add on (preferably both) to provide the calculations for a piping system already drawn in Revit or CAD.

Firstly, I'm a semi-retired, 78 year old drilling engineer with a PhD who is very new to writing VBA macros. I have developed a very extensive MS Excel Hydraulics program, in I have written a simple macro that iterates one variable in order to determine the best parameters for a Herschel-Bulkley and a Cross fluid model which I then use for performing my hydraulics analyses. Even after successfully applying two (per Internet) macro speed up techniques the macro can still take in the order of minutes to run for the rheological data input for certain types of drilling fluids. I have also tried turning off the auto-calculation only to find out that the macro runs fast but, in comparison to when the macro runs slow, it results in not giving the best fluid model parameters....
